FREDY GARCIA BATISTA

Fredy is better known as FredyClan.
He studied at ‘Escuela Nacional de Arte’ (ENA) and ‘Instituto Superior de Arte’ (ISA) in Cuba and graduated both as the best student of the year.
Since then he has been working as a dancer and choreographer for various productions in theatre and television as well as within the film and music industry in Cuba and many other countries all over the world.
FredyClan has cooperated with many well-known artists, Cuban as well as international.. Amongst them you can find famous names like: Compay Segundo, Oscar de León and La India.
Fredy performed for ‘Carlos Manuel y su Clan’ as a choreographer and a dancer.
In the beginning of the 2000s’ the group has been number one almost 5 years in a row.
Everyone in Cuba danced their choreographies.
In those years Carlos and Fredy became close friends. This was the exact time when Fredy created his stage name ‘FredyClan’.
Fredy also worked with La Charanga Habanera and Bamboleo. Performing as a dancer as well as organizing the shows as a choreographer he participated in many of their national and international concerts.
Fredy studied arts in Cuba with Alexander Abreu, the bandleader of ‘Havana d’Primera’.
Since then they are like brothers. They always enjoy working together as they recently did on tour with ‘The Bar at Buena Vista’.
Besides this, Fredy also has a successful career as a teacher.
Private lessons, workshops, courses, festivals or congresses, one student or 100, absolute beginners or professionals – he does not want to decide what he likes more. Each type of lesson is a different kind of challenge and requires its own special methodology of teaching.
To see that his students have fun and to observe their progress, fills him with pride and gives his work a very important meaning.
